Boulay PLLP is proud to announce that Steve Behrns, CPA, will assume the position of managing partner effective June 1, 2016. Behrns succeeds Mark DeNucci, CPA, who has led Boulay as managing partner since 2007.
“I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to serve as Boulay’s managing partner over the past nine years,” says DeNucci. “I am proud of what this firm has become and excited for its future under Steve’s leadership. After nearly 40 years with this great firm (starting as an audit intern), I am fired up to make a positive difference beyond Boulay.”
Behrns has been with Boulay for 34 years, was named a partner in 1995, and is a member of its executive committee. He provides business consulting, audit, tax and accounting services to clients in a wide range of industries including manufacturing, real estate, construction, financial services, and wholesale and retail distribution clients.
As managing partner, Behrns will be responsible for the strategic plan and direction of the firm, sourcing opportunities for Boulay’s growth, the quality of the practice, and the development of the partners and internal and external professional and administrative serving staff.
“The most significant part of my role is maintaining the culture of the Boulay firm,” says Behrns. “Our people and clients are the most valued and important part of the firm. We strive to have our people partner with our clients to build a trusted relationship for both parties.”
Behrns is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of Winsight CEO Network, Minnesota Bankers Association, and is a past member of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation board and Burnsville Rotary Club. He graduated from the College of St. Thomas with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting in 1982.
Outside of work, Behrns enjoys spending time at the cabin with his family, reading, and working out at the gym. He is a native of Kasson, Minnesota, and currently lives in Maple Grove with his wife, Deb, and their dog, Mickey. Behrns also enjoys being a father and grandfather of his growing family.
